Each week in this ongoing class, learners will learn about, discuss and analyze important women in both present time as well as in history, utilizing Rebel Girls Lead- 25 Tales of Powerful Women created by Elena Favilli & Francesca Cavallo. With this mini edition we will study the women in this book, discuss how they became influential and what contributions they have made on history. We will also consider how they have shaped society and history, as well as how strong their impact influences us today. No previous class or knowledge is needed, every class we discuss new women unrelated to the previous, so each class is new and exciting. Every class we will finish by playing a game of Kahoot or Jeopardy! It's a fun way to review the women we just read about as well as ensures that the students will want to pay close to attention to detail while reading. Every other class meeting the student will have an option of drawing/painting/sketching our favorite woman of the week with a short explanation as to why we chose that specific woman. Every class will be a fun- filled evening with good company, and a good book! You are welcome to join any week that interest you or stay with us for several weeks to learn about and discuss influential women. Below is a list of women that we are going to be discussing each day, this list will not change therefore you will know exactly who the women are on any particular day, and are able to choose the classes that most interest you. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone! My name is Zeni (Zen-e) and I am going to be teaching an array of topics within the social studies/ history subject. I have two bachelors degrees, one being in History and the other being Mexican American Studies. I am so passionate about our history in the world, as well as passionate about learning. I feel that with the knowledge I am able to bring to my students it can take them far within their life journey. I want to be the kind of teacher that inspires students to want to know more, to want to research more, to do more for themselves and their community. I also love many other things like my puppy Sally who is a Cocker Spaniel, make-up, clothes, hair and all! I hope to inspire, but ultimately, I hope to be inspired by the many students that I have the honor to come across. Let's make learning fun! Let's make it engaging! Let's do this thing!
