Objective: Students will be able to identify benchmark fractions (0, 1/2, 1) within 1 whole on a number line when comparing fractions. Students will begin class with a fluency activity that will have learners identifying fractions on a number line. Students will identify fractions that are equivalent to 1/2 and 1 whole. We will then move on to an application problem that will require students to access prior knowledge of fractions. Students will be able to identify plot points on a number line and use this to compare fractions as greater than or less than. This will lead the class into concept development of understanding and working with benchmark fractions. This strategy is useful when comparing fractions to 1 whole and half of a whole. Students will practice plotting points on a number line and ordering fractions from least to greatest. Students will have the opportunity to work through various problems using this strategy. We will end class with an exit ticket that will assess what your child has learned from class. My teaching style is very interactive and individualistic. I like to use a variety of strategies when instructing students. I like to make class enjoyable by having an energetic personality, using visuals and modeling. Students will have the opportunity to work together and hear rich discussions about content. Vocabulary: Unit fraction Numerator Denominator Whole Partition Number line Plot/point Half Equivalent Students should have some prior knowledge in basic fractions. This class is taught based on Engage NY Eureka Math strategies.

I was introduced to online teaching when I began my experience of teaching English as a Second Language with VIPkid to students who were learning English. This experience had motivated me to branch out and continue teaching online. It had inspired me to expand my platform providing me with the opportunity of teaching classes online for 5 years. I love meeting new people and being able to help make a difference in a learner’s educational experience.
Thank you for reading, and I hope to work with your child in the future! I am looking forward to meeting many students and exploring new concepts with them.
