Description
Class Experience
In this one-time drawing class, students will learn to draw a realistic Valentine rose wreath, in the shape of a heart, using colored pencil. During class, I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged. I ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for student understanding. Students may also interact with each other...
1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a heart shaped wreath of roses, using pencil. 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast, using colored pencils. 3. Students will learn techniques to draw blooming roses, using colored pencils. 4. Students will learn techniques to shade realistic roses, using colored pencils.
Because of how detailed this drawing is, students may need to finish their work outside the designated class time.
REQUIRED: -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Colored Pencils: tan/peach, pink, red, green (dark and light if possible), blue, gray, black, white OPTIONAL: -Baby oil, Q-tips and/or cotton balls (to blend colored pencils) -White gel pen
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and/or sharing of drawings.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
