Class Experience

Only pencil and paper is needed to create these fun nature themed Drawings! No previous experience necessary.
Each week we will get together to create a different work of art. Our subjects will vary from specific flowers, beautiful herbs, species of bugs and insects, varied mushrooms and so much more! As we create each of these nature themed drawings, we will also be learning interesting information about each one.
Learners are welcome to join the club at any point, space permitting. The club structure allows learners to get together each week with familiar faces, in a supportive environment. I create each sketch in advance, and then teach the class how to create their very own, step-by-step using simple shapes and lines, in a social and engaging setting.
It's all about having FUN while exercising our creativity! While this class is very structured, I like to give my students the 'Artistic freedom' to add their own spin on each piece we create. Students will be encouraged to show off their artwork during the draw-along, and engage with questions and answers.
We will be discussing and practicing shading techniques during this class to add shadow and dimension to our animals. Learners are also welcome to add color to their drawings after class.
I use a second camera, so learners are able to see the in-progress and completed drawing up close. Students should be in 'Gallery Mode' in Zoom. While this is the preset on most devices, please be sure your learner is set up, to save valuable learning time. **Chromebook users- Please be sure your Chromebook is capable of using 'Gallery View' on Zoom in advance, occasionally Chromebook's will make you update Zoom first.

This class will begin with a short introduction and meet and greet of the class, then we will dive in!

Here is what we will be drawing each week! This list is updated annually.

Attendance Policy:
The class will begin on time. In order to create a smooth class for my students, we will have to continue forward if a learner arrives late. All of my classes are recorded. If a learner arrives tardy to the class, I will encourage them to watch the recording after class to catch up up anything they may have missed.

It is my goal to complete the designated nature drawing each week. Because the subject will vary from week to week, in the rare circumstance that we are unable to complete a drawing in the allotted time, we will complete it the following week, before starting the new insect or plant.

Learning Goals

My ultimate goal for this class is to create and nurture a love for Art in my students. And to develop an understanding of the insects and plants that surround us.
Learning goals for this class are to create a drawing that we are happy with, one step at a time! I would also like my students to be able to walk away with the foundations of sketching and shading techniques, and some basic skills that can be applied towards future drawings.
