The students will understand the importance of proportions and using guidelines in planning all types of portrait sketches. The students will practice and gain shading skills and using light and dark strokes to simulate fur and volume. The students will understand the importance of artists tools and the why and when to use them to create a look. The students will be confident in undertaking any animal portrait project. The students will gain a greater appreciation for art than they may have possessed previously.
Following each class, the student should attempt finishing their sketch or identify questions to ask during the following class if they are struggling with any of the concepts. Time will be allotted on day 5 to assist students in finishing their work.
Sharpened pencils (and a pencil sharpener) sketchbook or white paper color pencils (optional) Pink Pearl Eraser Photo of Pet (optional)
