In this one-time class, learners will be going on an expedition to Antarctica. We will learn about buoyancy, how things sink and float, make predictions and observations, and do a hands on experiment.

Jump on our expedition to Antarctica! We will become scientists and travel to the cold icy continent. Learners will have the opportunity to create their own science journal, explore new science vocabulary, do hands on experiments, make a hypothesis, and draw observations! The topics touched on in the class include buoyancy and how boats float, sinking and floating objects, and a hands on experiment with our own at home materials. Students will learn about buoyancy by completing a hands on at home activity and documenting it in their science journals.
Journal or plain white paper Crayons, Colored Pencils or Markers A pencil 6 random small objects around your home (quarter, noodle, marble, etc). Medium to large sized bowl full of water
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
