Child Care Basics Understanding the needs of infants, toddlers, and older kids. How to provide age-appropriate care and activities. 2. Safety First! How to prevent accidents and keep kids safe. Basic first aid and what to do in case of minor injuries or emergencies. 3. Effective Communication Setting clear rules and expectations with kids. How to communicate with parents about routines, special needs, and any concerns. 4. Handling Common Challenges How to manage tantrums, sibling rivalry, and bedtime struggles. Tips for keeping calm and in control during tricky situations. 5. Building Confidence How to build your babysitting skills and stay confident in your new role. 6. Professionalism The importance of reliability, punctuality, and responsibility as a sitter. If the class enrollment minimum is not met, session will be canceled and a refund will be given to those who enrolled. If no one shows up after 10 minutes, class will be canceled and no refund will be given.

Hi, I’m thrilled to be leading the "Ready, Set, Sit!" virtual babysitting class! With my background as a Special Education educator, I bring a unique perspective on caring for children with diverse needs. I’ve spent over 20 years working with children of all abilities, teaching them essential life skills and ensuring their safety and well-being.
Through my experience, I’ve learned how to adapt activities and care to suit every child, whether they have physical, cognitive, or emotional needs. I’m passionate about helping young babysitters like you learn how to care for all children—safely, responsibly, and with empathy.
In this class, you’ll not only learn the basics of babysitting, but also how to be aware of and responsive to the individual needs of the children in your care.
