Beginner Level
"Ready, Set, Read!" is a tutoring program designed to teach children between the ages of 4-10 how to read. Using the UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) program, my lessons focus on building strong foundational literacy skills through differentiated instruction tailored to each child’s unique learning needs. In our first tutoring session, I will administer a phonics screener to assess where your child is in their literacy journey and tailor the learning experience to meet their needs. Each tutoring lesson following will focus on a specific sound or concept. To master the sounds, students will participate in engaging, hands-on activities that keep them actively involved in their learning while fostering a love for reading. We will also focus on learning to decode and encode unfamiliar words. A whiteboard and erasable marker are required for tutoring sessions. Whether your child is just beginning their literacy journey or needs extra support, this program is designed to help them grow into confident, capable readers!

Hello! My name is Cassidy Scott and I am excited to introduce myself as a dedicated tutor here to support your child's literacy journey. I hold a Bachelor of Arts with a Concentration in Psychology from Carleton University (2020) and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University (2021). With experience teaching grades 3-5 and Kindergarten for the past two years, I have developed a strong passion for helping young learners thrive.
My teaching philosophy centers around differentiated instruction, where I tailor lessons to meet the unique needs of each student. I believe in creating engaging, interactive lessons that spark a love of learning and empower students to reach their full potential.
I offer tutoring sessions for children aged 4-10, focusing on early reading skills and providing extra support in their literacy journey. In my tutoring sessions, I use the UFLI reading program, a research-based approach designed to help students learn to read through interactive and engaging lessons. In my first tutoring session, I use screeners to measure where your child is in their literacy development. The following literacy sessions are tailored to your child's literacy needs. I look forward to partnering with you to help your child build confidence, improve their literacy skills, and grow as a reader!
