Class Experience

In this 50-minute class students will learn how to make a traditional royal icing recipe that will be used to decorate their sugar cookies. These sugar cookies can either be homemade from the previous class with me or plain/undecorated sugar cookies from the store. Students will follow my instruction while I show them how make royal icing, tint the icing, and prepare decorating/piping bags. Once the royal icing is made and ready to use to decorate, we will start by using the outlining technique on the cookie and then proceed using the flooding technique. Students can either use sprinkles and sugar crystals to add some pizzaz to their iced sugar cookie or they can use other colors of royal icing to add polka dots, stripes, or other designs that will be demonstrated in class. Throughout the class students will have the opportunity to ask questions as they go along, as well as interact with their peers and compliment them on their decorated cookies at the end of class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! It is so nice to meet you! I am excited to teach baking, cake decorating, and Zumba to you! When I was 6 years old, I developed a love for baking and declared that one day I would open a bakery. As I grew older, I held onto this dream but also discovered my passion for teaching. I decided to take classes to improve my cake decorating skills. Once those skills were mastered, I began teaching my own cake decorating classes. It was so much fun teaching others how, they too, can decorate beautiful cakes. When I open my bakery, in the near future, I will offer cake decorating classes so that I can continue my passion for teaching. Currently, I am homeschooling my 3 children and we are always in the kitchen working together to bake different treats such as cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and more! It makes for a fun lesson and a delicious treat afterwards. I can't wait to teach you to bake some yummy treats as well!

As mentioned before, I also teach Zumba classes. I have had a passion for dancing since I was a young girl- it's pretty much in my DNA as my family is from the Caribbean. I started taking Zumba classes a few years ago and decided to take my passion to the next level by becoming a licensed Zumba Instructor. It is so fun and exciting to dance to a variety of music that I forget that I am actually exercising and keeping my body active. I am excited to share my passion for dance with you and can't wait to have you in class!

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, doing Zumba, and playing games with my kids. Our favorite games to play are Uno and Monopoly!

I look forward to seeing you in class!
