Class Experience

US Grade 1
Join us for Ready, Set, 1st Grade! This class is designed to help students, ages 5 to 7, get and stay ready for 1st grade by practicing reading, math, speaking, and play. Each week we will explore a new topic, review past topics, and engage in interactive activities to help learners hone their skills.

My class is structured so that every participant has the chance to engage with their peers, ask questions, and learn something new in a safe, calm, and fun environment.

Here is what your student will learn over the course of 6 weeks:

Day1: Writing (building sentences and punctuation)
Day2: Writing (review) math (addition), speaking (debrief about the session, Q&A)
Day 3: Writing (review) and math (addition), play (math game)
Day 4: Math (review), math (subtraction), speaking (debrief about the session, Q&A)
Day 5:Review & Celebration!

My teaching style is communicative and I foster speaking opportunities for each learner throughout the class. Your student will have the chance to interact directly with me and their peers throughout the course.

Master's Degree in Psychology from City University of New York (CUNY) - John Jay College
Greetings! I'm Courtney and so pleased to meet you! I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Seton Hall University, a Masters Degree from The City University of New York, and a TESOL from Arizona State University.

For the past 7 years, I have worked with a startup as a professional college essay writer and have taught writing and literacy skills in-person and online to both K-12 and adult learners. In these classes, I would engage all of my learners in topics that were of interest to them. This allowed for speedy growth and progress in every aspect of their literacy, speaking, and writing development.

My classes are writing, conversation and literacy-based. Expect a book club, a creative writing class, a social club, and fun trivia as a few of my course offerings.

In my classes, I take a communicative approach to learning. I strive to meet your student where they are in their learning journey and support them from there. Whether it is a 1-day class or a 5-week class, the attention I give to your learner (and you) is personalized.

Speaking of personal, I am a mother of a wonderful 8 year-old. His creative and imaginative personality helps fuel mine. Also, I am from New York City and elephants, lemurs, coffee, and cooking are some of my favorite things.

I appreciate you for your time and look forward to meeting you and your learner in my class!

- Courtney
