This class is taught by a teacher with a masters degree in reading with 22 years of experience teaching children in the brick and mortar classroom along with 1 year of experience teaching children virtually. The first step in any great classroom is building a connection with the students. Once that connection is made and the student knows how much they are genuinely loved by the teacher the student will try their best in class to become a successful reader. In this class it is my goal to not only teach your learner to read, but to also build that strong connection with them.
Biweekly optional homework will be to read books at their level, practice their sight word books and to finish their sight word worksheet
dry erase board, dry erase markers or blank paper, something to write with- pencil, crayons or markers for each class you will have a book and a worksheet to download and print
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
informal assessment of each student's reading abilities
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
It is recommended that parents stay nearby to assist the learner with focus and basic classroom instructions, if needed. Also, parents will need to print out the next class materials so the learner will be prepared for class. It is also recommended that parents assist with the learner's homework.
