includedClass Experience
Get your hands ready! In this ongoing class, we will learn how to form all the uppercase and lowercase letters through tactile experiences. We will prepare little hands through fine motor activities at the beginning of every class. One of the biggest obstacles to handwriting is underdeveloped fine motor skills. Next, we will focus on the letter formation of one uppercase and one lowercase letter in each class. We will practice forming the letters with tactile experiences such as playdough, pipe cleaners, and a writing tray. We finish each class writing the uppercase and lowercase letters using a pencil on plain paper. Children learning how to write need space to focus on forming the letters. Using lined paper hinders their ability to form letters correctly. Their tiny hands are not developmentally ready for lined paper. As your child's fine motor skills improve, they will naturally begin writing letters smaller and will eventually be able to write on the lines. In this class, our focus is proper letter formation, so we will use plain paper to write with a pencil. Skills do not build on top of each other and no prior letter knowledge is needed to start this class.
