Ready for Reading! Level 3 On-going English & Language Arts Skills for Ages 8-10
These classes are based on 3rd grade common core standards. This ongoing class will meet twice a week as we practice reading fluency, reading strategies, comprehension, and language skills including grammar, vocabulary, and spelling.

US Grade 2 - 4
This ongoing class will review reading and language skills based on 3rd grade common core standards. This class is open for advanced 2nd graders as well as upcoming 4th graders needing review. The students will be able to think independently, then share their answers with their peers as the teacher facilitates discussion and deepens learning through guided questions. Each week, we will focus on reading a passage and answer comprehension questions based on a specific reading skill. The reading passages will include fiction and nonfiction texts and the skills include, but are not limited to: fluency, text features, point of view, sequencing, cause and effect, main idea and supporting details, compare and contrast. We will also focus on specific language skills. The language skills include, but are not limited to: spelling, compound words, parts of speech, irregular verbs, prefixes and suffixes, punctuation, possessive nouns, conjunctions, etc. Private classes offered upon request. Week of January 5-11: Non-fiction informational text Week of January 12-18: Fictional story Week of January 19-25: Non-fiction informational text Week of January 26-February 1: Fictional story

Based on 3rd grade common core standards, students will improve their literacy skills; including fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and more.
