Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
This class offers 8 reading lessons for readers that need one- on- one tutoring. Each instructional lesson will begin with a review of previously taught skills, which will include a reread and a review of the vocabulary, sight words, word families and blends. This will also help improve reading fluency. I will introduce the new book. Next, we will build word families and blends by hammering, snapping and clapping the words. We will picture walk the new read by looking at the pictures and finding unfamiliar words. We will look at the structure of the text. I will model a reading strategy during this time. Then, students will practice by reading the new book. I will do frequent progress monitoring checks to affirm mastery. This includes running records and comprehension checks. I believe in building on the student's prior knowledge and successes. Reading should be an enjoyable experience. This class is also great for ESOL students.
Learning Goals
