Beginner Level
1-on-1 Tutoring for Students Meeting Times: One meeting a week, after that meetings will be decided on an "as needed" basis Course Objectives Students will... Work with the tutor to improve reading skills including; fluency, comprehension, critical thinking, vocabulary and decoding. Work with the tutor to improve writing skills including; grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation and effective writing styles. Work with the tutor to understand how to effectively write using evidence-based writing. This is done with text support, argumentative writing and informational writing. Work with the tutor to increase reading level that will be acquired with the above reading skills. Required Materials -You will need a computer with internet access. -You will need a class folder to keep your assignments organized. I recommend using Google Drive for this. -Homework or assignments that the student may need help with What to expect -My teaching style caters to each student's needs. Typically, I like to begin any class with getting to know my student(s)- what their interests are, likes & dislikes, strengths & weaknesses, etc. -I will challenge your student to overcome any challenges that they may have. I like to say I will never "overdo" anything, but I will encourage a productive struggle for students. I believe this grows students to be the very best they can be. -I can tutor students of any age. My teaching degrees are for secondary students (6th-12th grade). My promise to students and parents: -I will be prompt to your students tutoring session. Your time is valuable and I want to honor that -I will be dedicated to your student's success. I am passionate about education and giving students the tools they need in order to be successful in their education -Through our video sessions, your student will get assistance with their homework, assignments, essays or other pre-determined materials.
