Class Experience
We will read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. If you have not heard this story before, you need to hear it now. It is a story filled with empathy and heart as Edward Tulane goes on a journey he doesn't choose. Come along for the story full of feelings and warmth as we join Edward on his miraculous journey. This award winning book is my absolute favorite book ever! I read this book aloud to my students every year in 3rd grade and my past students even remember...
Students will use listening and comprehension skills with an engaging fiction story in which they will learn about empathy and feelings. Students will be have the opportunity to write their own fantasy story using writing techniques to bring their writing to life.
I have been a 3rd grade teacher for 10 years and this is my ALL TIME favorite book. I read this book every year and never miss the opportunity to read this classic award winning book. It is an all time favorite for my students and I love reading with inflection. The students feel like they are on the journey with Edward. They don't want to stop listening and look forward to when we get to read again. The author, Kate DiCamillo, inspires me as I teach narrative and fantasy writing to kids.
