Class Experience

We will read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. If you have not heard this story before, you need to hear it now. It is a story filled with empathy and heart as Edward Tulane goes on a journey he doesn't choose. Come along for the story full of feelings and warmth as we join Edward on his miraculous journey.

This award winning book is my absolute favorite book ever! I read this book aloud to my students every year in 3rd grade and my past students even remember this book as an all time favorite. It is full of suspense and cliff hangers, perfect to take a break until the next day. Students will be yearning for class to start so they can find out what happen next in Edward's journey.

Here is the course breakdown of the reading schedule:
Day 1 - Chapters 1-7
Day 2 - Chapters 8-13
Day 3 - Chapters 14-19
Day 4 - Chapters 20-27

Each day we will answer questions of various levels to accommodate all learners. We will also incorporate narrative and fantasy writing into each day. As the instructor, I will provide tips to bring narrative and fantasy writing to life with feeling and heart just like the author, Kate DiCamillo does in this story.

No prerequisites are required for this course.
