Reading Workshop is an English Language Arts class that helps students become better readers who are better equipped to discuss and write about what they are reading. I use high-interest literature to engage my students, reading strategies to help them understand and analyze what they are reading, an interactive classroom (Nearpod) to make class activities hands-on, and years of teaching experience to help me make my classroom engaging, welcoming, and differentiated. I have taught reading and writing classes for fifteen+ years to a variety of different learners. My teaching style is encouraging, and I help make reading, something some students struggle to understand and enjoy, easier and fun.
3 files available upon enrollmentI use Nearpod for many of my classes. A link to access the interactive lesson will be posted in the classroom. Parents will also receive a handout explaining how to use Nearpod. Students do not have to signup for Nearpod to access the lesson.
Students are assessed informally. I do not give grades, but I will be offering suggestions and helping them improve as readers and writers.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
