Reading Wonders Club

In this class, students will continue to focus on common sight words, phonics, and fluency. With regular practice, they'll develop strong reading habits and be able to read with confidence.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
We will be working on Fry's 6th 100 Sight Words, VC/CV (as in RABBIT), VC/CVe (as in CUPCAKE), compound words, -ang (as in SANG), -ing (as in KING), and -ong (as in SONG). We will be reading at Guided Reading Levels K-P depending on the reading level of the student as determined in a reading assessment.  We will also be working on Vocabulary and Writing in this class.
Lesson 1: (Week 1 - broken up into 2 sections of 30 minutes each.)
1.  Fry's Sight Words 601-610 (Depending on Student level, we may cover more.) 
2.  Vowel Pattern - VC/CV (as in RABBIT) - Sound cards and tiles will be incorporated to facilitate multisensory learning.
3.  Reading books to focus on Sight Words and phonics patterns.
4.  Vocabulary Assessment to find out what level words we need to work on.

Lesson 2:
1.  Fry's Sight Words 610-615
2.  Vowel Pattern - VC/CVe (as in CUPCAKE)  - With Sound Tiles
3.  Reading books to focus on sight words and phonics patterns.
4.  Vocabulary Words

Lesson 3:
1.  Fry's Sight Words 615-620 (Depending on Student level, we may cover more.) 
2.  Vowel Pattern - compound words and syllable review - Sound cards and tiles will be incorporated to facilitate multisensory learning.
3.  Reading books to focus on Sight Words and phonics patterns.
4.  Vocabulary Words

Lesson 4:
1.  Fry's Sight Words 621-625
2.  Vowel Pattern - -ang (as in SANG)  - With Sound Tiles
3.  Reading books to focus on sight words and phonics patterns.
4.  Vocabulary Words

Lesson 5:
1.  Fry's Sight Words 626-630 (Depending on Student level, we may cover more.) 
2.  Vowel Pattern -ing (as in KING) - Sound cards and tiles will be incorporated to facilitate multisensory learning.
3.  Reading books to focus on Sight Words and phonics patterns.
4. Vocabulary Words

Lesson 6:
1.  Fry's Sight Words 631-636
2.  Vowel Pattern -ong (as in SONG).  - With Sound Tiles
3.  Reading books to focus on sight words and phonics patterns.
