In this one time class, learners will practice the short vowel sound of letter "A" by listening for the sound and reading with it in CVC words. This is great way to get ready for Kindergarten and 1st grade.

Getting ready for first grade, or looking for some extra vowel practice? During this class, we will practice and read with the short vowel sound of letter "A." We will begin with why it has the sound "a" then move on to listening for the short sound and reading with the short sound. The class will be 25 minutes and focused on different activities with the short vowel sound of the letter “A”. Learners will interact during the entire class, and there will be no materials for class. practice after class. All learners are welcome, but it would be best if the learner has some alphabet knowledge prior to class.

One of my greatest joys is sharing my love of reading! I'm certified to teach reading and tutor in dyslexia to all school ages. My main classroom focus is helping students learn to read and spell through Orton-Gillingham based strategies.
I believe that learning to read is an essential part of life. While the journey of becoming a reader is different for everyone, there are components that everyone needs to help them become better readers. In my ten years as an educator, I have taught 3rd grade in public school, taught reading intervention to multiple grade levels in a private school, tutored multiple grade levels in reading, and worked as a private Dyslexia Tutor. Throughout my experience, I have been able to work with large and small groups.
My classes are student-centered and based on the needs of the learner. My goal is to always have learners walking away feelings successful. Learning to read is a journey that I would love to help your learner walk.
