Class Experience
Reading Tutoring Group: Second Grade is a structured reading group. The students will participate in a small group reading lesson by a certified early childhood teacher with a Master's degree in Reading and Literacy. This ongoing course will provide hands on instruction in reading and writing long vowel words, digraphs, blends, phonemic awareness skills, and sight words. Students will improve their reading fluency and comprehension.
I am an early childhood teacher with nineteen years of classroom experience. I taught First Grade for seventeen years and Kindergarten for two years.I have a Master's degree in Education - Reading and Literacy, a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, and a Bachelor's degree in Business - Finance. While I love teaching all subject areas, I really enjoy teaching children how to read.
Students will be asked to practice reading daily for at least 20 minutes.
Printer Pencil Dry Erase Board, marker, eraser Scissors
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed through classroom observation.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students will need help printing activities. Students may require parental guidance with cutting out worksheet pieces prior to class.
