Reading Group: First Grade is a structured reading group. The students will participate in a small group reading lesson by a certified early childhood teacher with a Master's degree in Reading and Literacy. The students will participate in word work and phonics activities, build sight word and vocabulary knowledge, read decodable books (students will take turn reading sentences out loud in class with teacher support), comprehension activities, and writing. I am an early childhood teacher with nineteen years of classroom experience. I taught First Grade for seventeen years and Kindergarten for two years.I have a Master's degree in Education - Reading and Literacy, a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, and a Bachelor's degree in Business - Finance. While I love teaching all subject areas, I really enjoy teaching children how to read.
