This class is a one on one tutoring class that will focus on phonemic awareness, phonics , decoding strategies and reading comprehension. Each class will focus on a new strategy and will build on what the student already knows. I will assess each student during our first class to gage their reading level and phonological and phonemic understanding . It will help if you already know your students reading level and what reading assessment was used. Your students teacher should have this information. The tutoring sessions will include some multi-sensory activities to work on phonemic and phonological awareness.

I am a qualified elementary school teacher with over 20 years experience. In addition to my qualifications I am a special education expert specializing in teaching students who are neuro divergent learners. If you suspect that your child is struggling to learn to read they might need a different approach to reading instruction. I use the Orton Gillingham approach to reading instruction which is a systematic and prescriptive approach to reading. It is engaging to young readers since is it incorporates multisensory approaches.
