Class Experience

This class is all about getting your little learner confident with speaking in front of a group while having fun with all things dinosaurs. We will be using dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals to keep your little learner's attention as we read stories, work on our oral speaking skills, writing skills, and dive into the foundations of early reading.

I will start the class by welcoming the student's with a fun poem or chant about dinosaurs. I will then introduce a new dinosaur that the learners can add to their dinosaur encyclopedia (which I will provide as a handout that can be printed off weekly). I will then allow each student to share a dinosaur they brought to class that day or share a dinosaur fact with the class to work on speaking and sharing. We will end the class by reading a story about dinosaurs.

I will be giving the learners plenty of moments where they can interact with the entire class and myself. I will also be doing lots of modeling and using visual aides so the learners stay engaged and excited. The goal is to keep the learners so engaged that you as their grown-up can be confident in the fact that they are having fun while gaining confidence in speaking and working with others. This is a great class to get some social interaction with other learners their age who share similar interests.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I am an experienced classroom teacher who has been in the educational world for the last 10 years. I received my Bacherlor's degree in Elementary Education and certified in working with English Language Learners. I taught preschool, kindergarten, and second grade in a classroom setting before transitioning to teaching at home so I could be home with my daughter. Now that she is in school full time, I am excited to fill my days working with young learners again.

I strongly believe that the early years in a learner's life are the most vital and that the right teacher and experience can spark an interest in learning that can last a lifetime. I love combining core curriculum concepts with topics and activities that interest the children and build a strong foundation of math and literacy skills. I also believe that learning is an active activity and I make it a rule to involve my students as much as possible in the experience. I use modeling, movement, art, song, repetition, and concrete and visual examples to help my student's stay engaged with the learning process. I also focus on helping the young learner build confidence in the classroom so that learning becomes a positive and rewarding experience for them and something they always look forward to.

My classes include kindergarten preparation courses, preschool, phonics, early reading skills, number sense, and letter foundations. I teach these core concepts while combining them with topics and activities the children are interested and excited about. I want your child to be excited to learn every time they enter my "classroom" and feel comfortable and confident during the experience.

I currently live in Utah with my fiance, daughter, and 2 dogs. We love reading Harry Potter, watching movies, camping, fishing, cooking, and traveling together.
