Reading out loud is beneficial for all readers. This helps with pronouncing sounds and words correctly, understanding punctuation and to read with inflection. Reading out loud also helps with processing skills, vocabulary, comprehension, confidence and learning to love reading.

This class will follow the following schedule.:

2-3 minutes- Discuss the book, or chapter, that will be read- make predictions, why was this book chosen, is the story fiction/non-fiction, etc.
15-20 minutes- Read the story, or chapter. I will help them with anything they need as they read. I will also ask questions and discuss characters, setting, plot, conflict, etc. 
2-3 minutes- Review what was learned about the story, new words that were learned, whether we liked the story or not and any other thoughts.
