What Will Students Learn: Students will learn background information about the famous children’s author Robert Louis Stevenson, become familiar with some of his poems, and gain practice in listening to, reading aloud, and discussing their reactions to poems. Class Structure: - Slides will be used to present the introduction to Robert Louis Stevenson, the poems, and discussion questions. -First, I will provide a background on Robert Louis Stevenson. -Then, I will call on a student to read a poem. -Each student will get a turn reading at least one poem. -If for any particular reason the student does not wish to read aloud, that is fine and they can let me know their preference. -The number of poems read aloud in the class will depend both on the number of students and how much time we take to read through the poems. -After each poem, I will ask students for their reactions to the poems. -Before the end of class, we will all discuss as a group what we thought of all the Robert Louis Stevenson poems we read and talk about how we could write poems inspired by him in our own time. The following notes concern Outschool policies.
