Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am so excited to be a part of outschool! I love teaching reading and writing strategies. Reading can open up a whole new world to young minds. Sometimes all it takes is the right book and the abilty to feel confident in your reading abilities. My classes will incorporate reading and writing strategies that will help children not only feel confident as readers and writiers, but become great at reading closely for understanding. They will also improve thier writing abilities by writing short and extended writing pieces that are both creative and grammatically correct.
I have 13 years teaching experience, and have taught 6th grade reading and writing for the past ten years. I truly love it! I also have extensive training in research based curriculum such as Notice and Note reading strategies and Writing Revolution writing strategies.
I strongly value relationship building among my students. Students will always feel welcome and comforatable when they are with me. Building a learning environment that includes kindness, teamwork, and acceptance has always been a top priority in my classroom. With these things learning will always fall into place.
I have three children of my own and deeply value my family. I also love to read a good book whenever I get the chance.
