After three class meetings, we give the reading skills test again to determine progress. This is, of course, shared with parents to determine a future course of action. Parents should notice a significant improvement in their child's reading skills in as few as six sessions.Class Experience

Parents are provided with the results of the test. The reading tutoring session is designed around the student's needs, especially targeting phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, fluency, spelling, test-taking skills, and much more! 📚 Students will be able to use Accelerated Reader to track their progress and choose from a variety of engaging and interesting online books. 📝 Parent input is welcome and encouraged. These sessions are student-driven; we will work on the skills that your child needs the most work on, not from a pre-determined curriculum. 🌟 Reading tutoring students are provided with a spelling program that complements the skills taught in the lessons. The spelling component consists of videos and practice sheets used in my flex classes. One week of spelling content will be assigned for each week of tutoring lessons attended. This is a bonus, not required to be completed by the student. Learning Goals
Based on the results of the reading skills test that is given in our first session, students will work on any reading skill they struggle with, or that the parent requests.I adapt quickly and can change tactics on the fly as necessary. Sometimes during lessons, we discover new strengths or weaknesses that we can build with or dig more deeply into!

The method of instruction used in this class is Phono-Graphix which is based on the Science of Reading and is Dyslexia-friendly.
Pre-Requisites
Students should know most of the sounds of all the English letters.
