Class experience
Beginner Level
Part 2 Prerequisite: Know Spanish letter names Learning to read is the basic foundation to help language learners increase vocabulary to become fluent in the target language. This class is the second step in learning to read Spanish. Learners should already know the names of the Spanish alphabet, as that is an important first step to read Spanish words. I introduce Spanish letter phonics in an order that will have learners reading words from the first week. Learners are highly encouraged to...
If learners participate during class and complete their homework assignments, they should be able to read any Spanish word by the end of this class.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I started learning Spanish in High School, taking 2 years of Spanish classes in High School and 1 year of Spanish classes at DePaul University. Those classes helped me to build a great foundation in reading fluently in Spanish and speaking the language. For the past 20 years, I have immersed myself in the Spanish language and culture. Most native Spanish speakers are amazed when they hear me read and speak Spanish because they say I do so without an English accent. I love to teach others how to read Spanish, as I know from experience that's the best way to learn the language! I have been teaching Spanish classes virtually for the past 2 years. Many students who have taken my class did not know any Spanish at first and by the end of the school year can now confidently read in Spanish and hold a basic conversation.
