Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This one time class is in honor of National Reading Month (March) & Read Across America Day ( March 2nd) to encourage students to be lifetime readers!
At the beginning of class students will participate in a Reading Would You Rather Ice Breaker. Next students will participate in a Reading scavenger hunt. They will be asked to find items that rhyme, find an object that begins with a certain letter etc. Learners will have one minute to find an item in their house. After the minute is up, we will gather back together for a time of show and tell. This course will be a fun way for your child to learn, get moving, and socialize with their peers.
After the scavenger hunt we will take a reading pledge and each student will receive a Reading award.
Learners are encouraged to bring their favorite book to class!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello I am Mrs. Keyuanna Evans. I am the teacher your child will never forget!
I have a patient teaching approach and strongly believe in verbal praise, positive correction and having fun while learning. I hope to build students' confidence and inspire them to learn. As a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child engage and having that "Light bulb" moment when they understand something.
I graduated from Virginia State University with a Masters in Education with a focus in Special Education. I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Recreation and Physical Education. I have been teaching elementary school for over 17 years. I have taught students in general education and students in Special Education. I have taught in both private and charter school settings.
In my everyday life, I am a wife and mother of one sweet 11 year old girl. I enjoy watching movies and spending time with my family.

I hope to see you in one of my classes!
