Reading Tutoring for Upper Elementary, Middle School, and High School: Decoding, Comprehension, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Sentence Diagramming In this personalized 1:1 reading tutoring program, I combine the Science of Reading with proven, evidence-based strategies tailored to meet your student’s unique needs. Here's how I help your student succeed. What You’ll Get: • Master Foundational Skills: Multisensory lessons in phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, and sight word recognition ensure solid reading skills. • Build Confidence and Fluency: Repetition and positive reinforcement keep progress steady and measurable. • Foster Comprehension: Enhance vocabulary, background knowledge, and language skills to make reading engaging and meaningful. Understand the role of structure from the sentence, to the paragraph, to the test excerpt, to the entire reading. What to Expect During a Session: • Review: Reinforce learning with a quick recap of the previous lesson to build retention. • Targeted Decoding Practice: Close foundational skill gaps and progress to advanced reading and spelling techniques. • Fluency and Comprehension: Your child reads aloud, receives immediate feedback, and gains confidence as they improve. • Vocabulary Building: New words are integrated into flashcards or Quizlet, expanding their language knowledge. • Understand how the author's structure influences the text • Grade-Level Literature: Enjoyable, age-appropriate books allow the student to engage with literature at their level and build confidence to read alongside their peers. The Result? Your child will develop the skills to read fluently and confidently. They'll catch up with peers, feel a sense of accomplishment, and experience the power of skilled reading. I’ve seen firsthand how students thrive with this approach! My teaching style is warm and casual and I connect with the students in such a way that they want to learn. I model how I learn. I cheerfully admit I do not know everything. These goals listed below focus on building a student’s ability to recall, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate, and create—skills that will ultimately boost their reading proficiency. Let’s work together to ensure your child’s success. Enroll today to get started!
