🦋Does your child need practice with their reading with a different twist? This wonderful Self Paced reading class with video lessons ranging from 42 - 57 minutes will help your child's reading skills by utilizing phonograms and various reading strategies that I have used as a reading specialist. I also made the PDF worksheets myself and will use various teaching methods including the rime magic method, ultimate phonics, Waldorf enchanting music, scenes w/ fairies 🧚 & poems, and other entertaining reading activities between each structured lesson tutorial. I will also use friendly Avatars (with my voice), a large human-like Cowboy Joe puppet, and myself to keep the class fun and engaging. This will help alleviate frustration for the struggling reader. I also follow the concept of Montessori in that any additional materials that I send have no grading system and are self-grading. The age of the student will be no problem as long as the parent or caregiver feels that their child may benefit from the course. Any child of any age is welcome in my class. No tefunds: Please do not enroll just to “try out the class” as enough information has been given in this description of the class. I will be asking the parent why they cancelled if this happens. Only student learners and not adults. Thanks 😊 🧚 Dr. Ruth will be available as needed in the message area and she will engage with the learners weekly with posts and short video clips. She will respond to any questions within 24 hrs. Her avatars will also chime in with a friendly "hello"! Learners will be able to interact with Dr. Ruth and peers through the posts or message area if they wish to do so. Reading is fun for all in this self paced reading class full of adventures! Estimated completion time for all the classes is dependent on when the child views the videos and completes their worksheets (approximately 30 minutes to 1 hr per video and worksheets per lesson). See the class "Syllabus" section for details of each video lesson. 🦋The PDFs that you will receive will contain reading practice on the common letter confusion of b/d, phonics, single and multisyllabic words, blends, and progress to higher-level writing and spelling activities. But they are simple and for practice so they will not be too challenging for the learner. I will give worksheets in each class that are very easy to fairly easy to meet the needs of different reading levels including those with dylexia and English Language Learners needing assistance with their reading skills. 🦋My friendly and feisty large puppet Cowboy Joe will make everyone chuckle. The puppet is not for "babies" as I am a puppeteer and I have had adults and older teenage children love the interactions while I teach structured reading lessons. My younger learners giggle while learning to read happily. This technique helps to keep my students engaged while having fun reading in a systematic approach. 🦋My class will be focused on helping students to read so do not worry as I am meticulous when it comes to reading success for your child. This class is all about reading and not play time as I want to focus on words and sentences through my various activities. Students of all ages who struggle with reading may attend. 🦋During the class, the students will focus on addressing word recognition, decoding of words and nonsense words to ensure accurate interpretation of words, and also a review on phonics (consonant blends) and phoneme segmentation. I will cover a range of topics including phonological and phonemic awareness, sight words, grammar, 46 rimes/phonograms, sequencing, reading comprehension, and much more. 🦋I also teach students to see the natural segmentation patterns of the written words by training the students with phonograms and rimes. I find that some children have been taught so much phonics by sounding out each letter of the word, which is fine at the beginning of their reading journey, however, they may not be very familiar OR versed with the patterns of the most common rimes. These will be taught in each class regardless of reading level in order for the child to also focus on these patterns and therefore build more fluency. For older or upper-grade students, I will also present multisyllabic words to help them along. 🦋Remember also that a child may be able to "read" the words in sentences but their fluency rate may be slow because they are having difficulty in decoding or they be compensating by reading a bit too fast and skipping over words or substituting words for another assumed word. 🦋Some children are noted to be able to use other words in the sentences as cues but may not be able to fully grasp the exact meaning of the sentence due to substituting words. This will affect reading comprehension as they progress in school and may impact grades once they have completed the 3rd and/or 4th grades dependent on where they go to school or are homeschooled. Therefore, I will also make sure to educate the learner on the importance of reading with intent and purpose. 🦋Weekly schedule which will also include a Waldorf poem for each class. 46 Rimes and Phonograms will be covered along with supplemental reading activities and PDFs. As a bonus, your child will be immersed in lovely Waldorf-inspired music and breaks in between my lessons. My wonderful videos are from 42 to 57 minutes full of entertaining reading material with transitions between myself, Cowboy Joe, Avatar Tina, Waldorf inspired soft music, nature scenes, and more! I can't wait to have you attend this reading class. We will have loads of fun with my human-like puppet "Cowboy Joe" along with my avatars and myself.
