Reading Part 2.5 is a continuation of Reading Part 2. Students will continue to work on phonics skills and learn to decode words as they are reading. We will be learning a new skill each week, writing words with that skill and reading a story with that skill. You will find the class outline below. I do recommend taking Reading Part 2 first as this class is a continuation of that class. My classes are very routine, each class we will begin class by learning the phonics skill, reading words with that skill, writing words with that skill, reading a book, and work on writing a sentence or review activity at the end of class. If you have taken my classes before, you know I stick strictly to my routine each class. This class will be 2 times a week to ensure students understand the phonic skill for that week. My classes are interactive. Students will be writing words, showing me their work and each students will have one individual page to read of the story each class. I will encourage students to whisper read or mute to read the other pages as other students are reading. Here is the class outline: Week 1: Review R-Controlled Vowels and Long Vowels from Reading Part 2 Week 2: /ey/, /ay/ sound in words Week 3: /oi/, /oy/ sound in words Week 4: /ow/, /ew/ sound in words Week 5: /ou/ sound in words Week 6: /oo/ sound in words Week 7: /eigh/ sound in words Week 8: /ause/ sound in words Week 9: /ough/ sound in words Week 10: /tion/ sound at end of words At the end of my 10 week course you will receive a certificate of completion.

Teacher expertise and credentials
New York Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
I teach a variety of different classes geared toward elementary students ages 3 and up. My classes include ELA, Math, Writing, Phonics, Stories, teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced readers, simple to complex sentences, and much more. I love student participation and encourage it in all my class.
I have 16 years of teaching experience. I teach 4th grade ELA in a public school in NYS and have been teaching for 4 years on Outschool. I have a Masters in Elementary Education, Bachelors in History, Associates in Business. I have taught Pre-k, K, and ESL online. I have taught all subjects. Over my 16 years of teaching, I have gone to many different trainings in ELA, math, behavioral and I am trained in Logics by Ortan Gillingham and currently training and using restorative practices.
I believe every child can learn but not all through the same method. Learning needs to be fun and engaging and needs to be a memorable experience for students to truly understand it.
I am a mom to five wonderful kids ages 6-12. They keep me busy and I love being their number one teacher!
