Reading Nonfiction to Improve Comprehension (Level 5)

US Grade 4 - 7
The course is a five-day reading comprehension course for students with a fifth-grade reading level. Each session is one hour long and will cover one In the Know nonfiction article, comprehension questions, vocabulary activity, and a writing response activity. - Students will improve their reading comprehension by practicing skills of identifying main ideas and details, making inferences, using compare and contrast skills, using summarizing skills, and writing responses to assignments designed to reflect their understanding of specific concepts presented in each nonfiction article.
As a reading specialist, I am offering this class to provide students with assistance to improve reading comprehension skills.

1 file available upon enrollmentThe teacher will post articles before each session for the students to print for class use. The titles of the articles used are: 1) What is the Constitution? (U.S.), 2) Let's Understand The Bill of Rights (U.S.), 3) Fly Into Action (about skydiving), 4) The Clever Octopus, and 5) Types of Rocks.
