Students will improve their reading comprehension by practicing skills of identifying main ideas and details, making inferences, using compare and contrast skills, using summarizing skills, and writing responses to assignments designed to reflect their understanding of specific concepts presented in each nonfiction article. 

As a reading specialist, I am offering this class to provide students with assistance to improve reading comprehension skills. 

Homework Offered
The writing response activity is an assignment the students complete outside of the classroom as homework. When students complete the writing response activity, they will post it in the classroom to receive teacher feedback.
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Learner progress assessment occurs through student responses to comprehension questions, vocabulary matching activities, and student completion of the writing response assignments.
