Assessment
At the end of each tutoring session, I will send a private message in the classroom page detailing your learner's progress and scores (if applicable) in today's class.Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 6
In this private tutoring session, your learner will receive targeted, individualized instruction on the five components of reading: phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. I love developing relationships with my students, and I strive to make every class fun and engaging. My goal is to have every learner feel successful at the end of class! My teaching style is to make every class as multi-sensory and interactive as possible. My lessons are tailored to your learner's area of need and are very structured, sequential, and provide multiple opportunities for reinforcing and reviewing skills. I have received Orton-Gillingham training and follow the Orton-Gillingham Scope & Sequence. Each week's lesson plan will cover the following- card drill, decoding words, spelling, introduction of new phonics skill or concept, dictation of sentences, reading fluency, and reading comprehension. Vocabulary is integrated throughout all sections. As an elementary Special Education teacher, I have provided many reading interventions (small group and one-on-one). I specialize in helping students with Dyslexia and other learning disabilities. Please let me know the following information prior to the start of class. 1. Grade your learner is currently in. 2. Your learner's current reading level. 3. Area of need or area (phonics/decoding, spelling, comprehension, etc.) you would like me to spend extra time each lesson on. If you are unsure, don't worry! I will provide a diagnostic assessment the first day of class to see where we need to begin. The pace of tutoring sessions will be entirely tailored to your learner's ability and progress.
Learning Goals
Learners will become stronger readers by closing the gaps and increasing their reading fluency and comprehension.
