Class Experience

This ongoing class is full of reading, community and fun! We will begin our time together with good news from the class. Learners will then be introduced to a new word family each week. Learners will also practice a set of sight words each week. Each class will include practice of a helpful strategy for applying the weekly word family into writing. Participation will be encouraged and learners will learn the importance of reading out loud as they decode new words! We will also learn the importance of rereading familiar words to help build overall fluency. While we learn a particular word family, we will also navigate common word parts (blends and digraphs). My teaching style is interactive and high-energy.
Each class will include:
Good news, Sight word practice, Meeting a new word family and drawing a word family house, Writing a short sentence

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am an elementary education teacher with 12 years of experience in the classroom! I am excited to bring a great curriculum of reading and math to your child. I teach phonics, reading fluency and comprehension, and math numeracy and algebraic concepts. Most importantly, I help students get excited to learn and begin to realize their limitless potential!

I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education from Penn State University and my Masters in Elementary Eduction from Millersville. Since then, I have loved teaching young learners! I also have a minor in Hearing and Deafness Studies, which I incorporate into my lessons through the use of American Sign Language.
I believe all students can grow and become confident learners! I believe in creating content rich lessons using common core standards, all while making it fun! This all is made possible through a positive classroom environment.

I am a teacher, but I'm also mom to two little girls. Since becoming a mom, I am even more passionate about my role as an educator. I know the heart moms have to see their children succeed! I see the value in providing great teaching to young children. My passion for teaching is now even stronger!
