Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
In this one-time class, learners will be able to ask and answer questions based on the story "Those Shoes" written by Maribeth Boelts. The story is about a young boy who lives in an urban community. His ultimate dream is to own a new popular pair of shoes that has special powers. Not only do these shoes have special powers, but all of his friends at school own them. He must have these shoes. Will he be able to purchase these shoes or will he wear his old boring shoes forever? The topics that will be covered in class are key asking questions such as:

                                                         *Who is the main character?
*What takes place in the story?
                                                         *When did it happen?
*Where does the setting take place?
                                                         *How did it happen?
*Why did this happen in the story?

The teacher will ask learners some warm-up questions to connect with the lesson. Then we will read pages from the story "Those Shoes" written by Maribeth Boelts and use Google slides to help ask and answer key questions (who, what, when, how, where, and why). The teacher will have students use their critical thinking skills in order to discuss questions based on the learning prompts provided. Learners will work as a team to discuss and share their responses with one another. Afterward, the teacher will prompt students to ask and answer key questions from their own independent reading books. The teacher will provide any additional feedback to support student learning throughout the lesson. Please feel free to contact me if you need a session during a time that is not listed. I have extra time slots available and I am able to accommodate your schedule.

Learning Goals

.......................... 📚 MY TEACHING JOURNEY 📚.......................

Greetings from USA. My name is teacher Ileana and welcome to my classroom. I understand that establishing a positive learning environment starts with building relationships, creativity, and imagination. As an educator, I believe that every learner brings their own particular brand of genius to my classroom.

My journey as an educator began in 2017 when I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. One of my qualifications includes teaching in a brick-and-mortar setting for learners ages 4-9. As a headteacher, I instructed learners in general subjects such as reading, math, social studies, and science. One of my favorite teaching moments is traveling with my class on educational field trips to the zoo and learning about different animals. In 2019, I transitioned to being a full-time remote learning teacher. As an ESL tutor, my experience consists of teaching English to students ages 3-15 from all across the world. The classes I am planning to teach range from foundational skills for early elementary students and video game content.

One of the many activities I enjoy is exploring different destinations with my family, especially Disney World. As your Outschool teacher, my goal is for students to have fun learning while feeling confident within themselves. I look forward to meeting your learner.
