Reading Level Quick Assessment with a Certified Reading Teacher, Ages 4-18
In this one-on-one class, a certified reading specialist will assess your child's reading fluency, comprehension and alphabet and sound recognition (if age appropriate). You'll then receive a detailed message with the results of the assessment as well as your child's reading level.

Curious about your child's reading level? During this quick assessment which takes only 25 minutes or less, your child's reading level will be determined using the Qualitative Reading Inventory (QRI). Through this assessment, I will look at your child's: -Reading Fluency including accuracy, rate and expression -Word Recognition Skills -Comprehension level including their ability to answer explicit and implicit questions as well as retell -Alphabet and Letter Sound Recognition (for pre-K, kindergarten and first graders only) Within 24 hours of the assessment, you will receive a detailed email through Outschool with your child's scores and their instructional grade level. I will also send the equivalent Fountas and Pinnell levels and a Lexile score. There's nothing to prepare or bring. I am passionate about instilling a love of reading in children through sharing engaging, high interest texts. The classes I teach are literacy based, and I also offer reading assessments to help parents have a better understanding of their child's reading level and strategies to support them.
I have ten years teaching experience at the elementary level and my Masters in Reading Education from UVA and am certified to teach readers from K-12. I ran the CETA (Changing Education through the Arts) program by the Kennedy Center, at my school and find great value in arts integration.
I believe children should feel that they are valued members of a class in order to do their best learning. Classes should be engaging, interactive and social, especially in a virtual format.
