Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
In this interactive reading class, we focus on strengthening phonics skills through passages and activities that cover:

- Phonics Concepts: Short and long vowel families, blends, digraphs, diphthongs, and r-controlled vowels.

- Sight Words: Pre-primer and primer sight words for early reading fluency.

- Skill Development: Targeted exercises build sight word recognition, vocabulary, and writing abilities.

This class, ideal for Kindergarten through Grade 3 learners, is designed for students who are either new to reading, blending letters, and already familiar with basic alphabet sounds and sight words.

Class Structure and Pacing

Before Unit 3:

Each session begins with a 15-minute review of the letter set and sight words, followed by group reading activities and games. This section can be repeated as needed.

Unit 3 and Beyond:

Week 1 - Learning Sounds and Words (Group-Focused): Students work together on a new phonics theme, using a word list and group activities to practice sounds and words.

Week 2 - Story Reading Practice (Individual Focus): Each student has 10-15 minutes of individual reading time with me, reading 1-2 stories aloud to reinforce fluency and comprehension.
