Reading is an important skill needed to succeed in life. This class will offer strategies to help struggling students, emergent readers, and ESL students become proficient emergent readers. This class provides students with reading activities that will help them get to the next level of reading.
The students will have ample opportunities to practice reading skills taught in my lesson. I will focus on each students needs and monitor their progress throughout the class. I will also...1. Students will be engaged in the reading lesson and have opportunities to use the strategies taught in class. 2. Students will learn vocabulary in books. 3. Students will read silently. 4. Students will focus on word work and phonic skills. 5. Students will learn basic sight words for levels a . 6.Students will read matched reading level books independently.
I have been teaching guided reading in my classroom for over twenty-five years. I have also studied Readers Workshop at Columbia University and have taken numerous classes at my school. I am now tutoring students virtually and in person grades K -5th grade. I have taught ESL and homeschool students virtually.
