Students practice a 6-step approach to reading and paraphrasing a text. With teacher support, they build competence and skill in understanding what they read and paraphrasing. These are must-learn skills for #academic success!
Class experience
US Grade 4 - 6
This class is chock-full of reading and learning strategies. In our time together, students will read two informational passages. They will practice using the six strategies to understand what they read and then paraphrase the text in their own words while avoiding accidental plagiarism. In this class, students will interact with the large group of students, and the instructor. We ensure students feel comfortable but also challenged. ;) We take an "I do, we do, you do" approach to teaching....
Students will increase their reading comprehension and paraphrasing skills while building confidence in their ability to read, think, and learn.
A handout will be provided in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The Social Studies text is about a Titanic survivor who recounts her story. This may be scary or sad for young or sensitive learners.
