Class Experience

Students are welcome to class if they have knowledge of letter sounds and basic CVC words. We will build class on reading techniques that move beyond the typical Kindergarten level reading instruction.

Each class is contained entirely in itself so readers may enter class any date and leave class on any date. Each class will focus on a specific reading pattern and strategy. Students are encouraged to read 15 minutes a day outside of class but this is not required to attend class.

The course is focused on creating a solid understanding of reading patterns, word recognition, and to apply new skills to advance Kindergarten readers to independent reading. Reading level improvement and advanced academic success is our goal of class. We will cover ideas in spelling and punctuation and parts of speech. These are to aid in reading advancement but these are not covered in a style where students could count this as a true course in spelling or grammar. These concepts are referred to and covered lightly in class so that we can address reading from an overall blended picture. You can not fully achieve high advanced results as a reader without these ideas and skills developing as well.

Students will work with the teacher in a lecture based setting. Readings and skills will be presented in each class on the screen using canva. Students are encouraged to participate and/or volunteer to practice reading passages in class for help and skill building. Students are never "forced" to read or answer out loud if they are feeling unsure or uncomfortable. If students want to try reading outloud it would be most beneficial for them and will help to grow their advanced reading skills. Students will be free to ask questions, make comments, and are highly encourage to interact with the teacher and other students as often as possible.

Students are never scolded for giving wrong answers or not understanding materials. This course is to grow the love of learning and advance students skill set through encouragement, practice, and patience!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Friends,

I would like to welcome you to learning and growing through immersion in core subject areas. I specialize in Japanese, Korean, English Language Arts, American History, and Physics. Classes are always interactive and encourage participation, interaction, and hands on virtual components to keep learners engaged.

I am excited to teach your student and strive to make our lesson time valuable. I have put in extensive time creating all curriculum, activities, handouts, and course information to make the most of our class time!

My background includes studying at Charter Oak State College, earning a TESOL from Glasgow University, Scotland, UK, and earning extensive teaching certificates from the TEXAS A&M Extension Program. I have previously lived in Tokyo, Japan for four years. During that time I completed the Defense Language Institute Korean and Japanese Programs. I have also attended the Cyber Institute of Korea for Korean language studies, Hanyang University and Yonsei University (located in Korea) for additional Korean language courses of study. I enjoy furthering my experience and continue to take additional courses to increase my knowledge in several subject areas.

My experience includes teaching Japanese culture and language, Korean culture and language, and English as a second language. I have also taught core subjects through homeschool co-op classes with classrooms of up to 20 students.

I currently own and operate an online K-6 school called Noble Homeschool Academy where homeschoolers participate in core subjects as well as foreign language, art, music, and book club. I have been teaching for fourteen years and hope to enjoy many more years of teaching!

I have experience with students in grades K-8. Creating engaging curriculum will open the mind of any reluctant learner. I enjoy watching my students find a new interest and love of learning with every class.

My extensive online teaching experience allows your student to enjoy an interactive environment even though we are virtual! My journey as a military spouse has taken my all over the world and I enjoy inserting the knowledge and experiences into educational content that children may not get to otherwise experience. I understand the difficulties students face learning new and challenging content. I believe that my classes are light hearted and encouraging but packed full of substance!
