Reading Fluency and Phonics Tutoring 1:1

**Last Week of Tutoring will take place 8/9-8/13**

Does your child have a difficult time connecting letters to sounds?
Are you looking for a way to sharpen your child's reading and writing ability over the summer?
Are you looking for tutoring that focuses on reading fluency and phonemic awareness?

If yes, this may be a great fit for your child! This is an individual tutoring session for 45 minutes once per week. Because this is an individual tutoring session, please contact the teacher if you would like to meet more or less often than this. I am a certified PreK-3rd grade teacher. In this class, I will begin by allowing the student to read a book of their choice. This may be a familiar book to them from home. This allows the student to gain confidence in reading from the start of the session. Next, we will do some phonemic awareness warm-ups. I will prepare their brains for associating certain spelling patterns with sounds. In the English language, we have several phonograms that can be confusing to children learning to read! 

Students will be assessed during the first meeting to determine their current level. From there, I will focus on one phonogram per session. For example: /ch/.
We will learn the sound this spelling pattern makes and practice blending different words. We will play games that strengthen their phonemic awareness. Following this, the student can read a book requested by the parent or recommend by the teacher. Some students are asked to complete summer reading. I am happy to incorporate this into our tutoring session as this is personalized to your learner!
