Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This class is designed to help students look at multi-syllable words closely for prefixes, suffixes, and root/base words. We will work through what some of the most commonly used prefixes and suffixes mean, work on reading fluency (speed/accuracy of reading), apply their meaning in context, and play a game together. Students will also be given handouts that they can use at home for optional extra reading practice. This class is for students reading at a later first grade-third grade reading level to help make more meaning of what they are reading. The skills that we work on together will help students build confidence in looking for parts of words closely and understanding how a prefix/suffix affects the meaning of the root/base word.
