Reading: First Grade Phonics & Fluency Skills Level 3

In this self-paced course, we will review basic letter sounds and simple CVC words, blending strategies for CVC/CCVC/CVCC words, plus learn some simple consonant blends, digraphs, high frequency words, reading simple sentences and more! Students are encouraged to join the class that best fits their skill level and educational needs. For help determining this, feel free to contact me.

A self-paced coursedoes not rely on live meetings but instead has videos, worksheets and other posts in the OutSchool classroom. This is ideal for learning to read because your child can practice over and over again and every child can learn at their own pace. 

On Mondays I will post a short video and worksheets introducing the sounds and sight words for that week. We will work together to build words, identify words that contain the different sounds, have fun rhyming and practice simple blending and segmenting strategies to build a good foundation for reading.

Every Friday I will post a game or activity and a video as needed to help review what we learned during the week. This may include a scavenger hunt, picture sort, bingo and more. Students can look forward to sharing what they did each week and will be able to post pictures to the classroom to show off what they learned! 


⭐ Students should know all their letter names and sounds and be able to independently read CVC words before joining this class. Please see my other listings for help with this. 

⭐ If you are not receiving emails about posts to the classroom after the first couple days in class, please check your emails SPAM folder. Often messages from OutSchool end up there and get lost.

⭐ Students will need crayons, paper and printouts of the provided worksheets. Students will also need access to "Bob Books Set 4: Complex Words." These can be purchased at Amazon (link below) or may be available to checkout at your local library (hard copy or digital).
