Class Description: In Reading Explorers Tutoring Sessions, readers receive personalized, one-on-one support to strengthen essential reading skills, including phonics, fluency, and comprehension. Designed for elementary students at all reading levels, each session is tailored to your child’s pace, building confidence and success in reading through engaging, skill-focused activities. What Will Be Taught? Students will develop foundational skills in phonics (decoding sounds and patterns), build reading fluency (reading smoothly and accurately), and enhance comprehension skills (understanding and connecting with texts). Every lesson builds a pathway to confident reading, equipping students to read passages fluently and understand what they read. Topics Covered (Based on Needs): Phonics: Letter sounds, blending, digraphs, vowel teams, and syllabication Fluency: Reading with expression, pacing, and accuracy Comprehension: Story elements, summarizing, predicting, and discussing themes Class Structure: Each 30-minute session includes a warm-up, focused skill-building practice, guided reading, and a comprehension discussion. We wrap up with a review to reinforce learning and track progress over time. Teaching Style: My teaching approach is supportive and interactive, designed to make reading enjoyable and help each child take pride in their progress. I use multisensory techniques, visuals, and hands-on activities to keep students actively engaged and excited about reading. Interaction & Activities: Each student will have frequent opportunities to engage, including: Guided Reading & Discussion: I’ll listen to each student read, helping them sound out words, read with fluency, and explore the story’s meaning. Slides & Visuals: Engaging slides and visual aids are used to introduce new sounds, sight words, and comprehension strategies. With consistent, encouraging feedback, your child will experience a structured yet flexible environment to grow on their reading journey, building skills they can confidently use in any reading challenge.
Learning Goals
Phonics Mastery: Students will develop a solid understanding of phonics, including the ability to decode letter sounds, blends, digraphs, and vowel teams. They will apply these skills to read and spell grade-level words accurately.
Fluent Reading: Students will improve their reading fluency by practicing reading passages with appropriate expression, pace, and accuracy, enabling them to read smoothly and confidently.

Greetings! I'm Rhonda Savage, and for the past 22 years, I've dedicated myself to the field of education. My journey in teaching has been incredibly fulfilling, with a particular focus on instructing reading and math within the Early Intervention Program, catering primarily to students in grades K-5. This program has afforded me the opportunity to closely support and inspire students in mastering these foundational subjects. I proudly hold titles as a Dyslexia Endorsed Educator, LETRS trained educator, Certified Reading Specialist, and Orton Gillingham Instructor, demonstrating my dedication to literacy and my unwavering commitment to assisting students in unlocking the captivating world of reading. Witnessing the progress of students as they conquer reading challenges brings me immeasurable joy.
Beyond the classroom, I am a passionate culinary enthusiast. Cooking and exploring diverse cuisines serve not only as creative outlets for me but also as a means of gathering family to create unforgettable moments. My kitchen is my sanctuary, where I find solace and fulfillment. Another significant aspect of my life is my enduring love for all things Disney. From visiting Disney parks to collecting memorabilia and enjoying Disney movies and animation, my enthusiasm knows no bounds. As an educator, dedicated chef, and avid Disney fan, my life beautifully intertwines the nurturing of young minds, the joy of culinary exploration, and the enchantment of Disney's storytelling. I firmly believe in the transformative power of education and eagerly look forward to sharing these passions with those around me.
