Class Experience

In this class we will be reading a short passage using either a take turns reading strategy or a choral reading strategy. As we read we will discuss the meaning of the passage and identify and decode difficult vocabulary words. The discussion will include examples, pictures, videos and stress free student participation. After we have read the entire text we will answer questions that focus on reading comprehension skills.

The current list we will be using is as follows:

August 25: The Diwali Legend of Rama and Sita

I will send the materials to each student the Sunday before class or whenever you enroll in the class. If you wish, please download the pdf files and have them printed for the class each week. I will also be showing the article with screen share during the lesson.

Hello, I am Miss Rebecca Davis and here a a few points about me.

- I have a Master's in English with teaching certification and a Bachelor's in English Literature.
- I have been teaching English for five years.
- I focus on Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary by reading grade level texts and holding discussions with students in a fun and low stress environment.
- My personal philosophy is that reading is meant to be a fun and engaging activity, and by working to understand what we read and learning new vocabulary words in a relaxed environment, students can learn to enjoy reading and do better in school.
