Class Experience
You and your student will first need to contact me via message to let me know which book they are interested in reading through the course. If your reader is struggling to find books of interest, reach out and I would be happy to curate a list for them based on their interests! We will then be able to arrange meeting times to suit your schedule, as well as the student's reading level. We will also identify the skills that your student would like to focus on. Students will build their reading comprehension skills across multiple areas including character analysis, main idea and supporting details, themes in literature, and symbolism.
My favorite part of teaching at this age range is watching kids get excited about what they're reading, and the conversations and connections they make through the books. I bring humor and patience with me in my teacher bag of tricks, and hold students to high expectations. I am available anytime by email if there's any questions.
Students will have a set reading requirement that must be completed before each live session. They may also be asked to post responses or questions on the Outschool board between sessions.
A copy of your chosen novel will be required Access to desktop, laptop or tablet with keyboard will be beneficial for classes. A Google account in order to share documents
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:

2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
