In this workshop, students will learn strategies for reading comprehension and practice with a number of different texts.
Class experience
This workshop will introduce reading comprehension strategies to help students understand books, articles, and other types of texts they read in English, Social Studies, etc. Strategies that will be covered include: CUT (Circle, Underline, Talk to the Text), understanding vocabulary in context, reading for main idea, reading for specific text questions, and more. I am a current AP Social Science Teacher at a Title I high school in the Bay Area. In addition to teaching high school history and AP-level classes, I also have experience teaching and tutoring middle school Social Studies and English.
