Class Experience

In this lesson, not only will students hear a hilarious story about a fish that farts, but they’ll also develop reading comprehension skills through engaging and exciting learning activities.

-We’ll start with an activity called, “About Me”. Students can tell me anything about them that they feel is special. Maybe they can swim, maybe they can count backwards or maybe they can build a snowman.
-Next we’ll sing a fun upbeat Welcome Song followed by some pre-reading and brainstorming ideas about the story.
-I’ll also introduce the vocabulary words in the beginning of the lesson which are: ocean, heart, music, party. Then we'll have our challenge words which are: shy and embarrassed.
-Then I'll read the story, "Felix the Farting Fish." The students will feel like they're under the sea while I read the story.
-Then we'll play a game that I like to call, "Wheel of Felix!" I will send parents a link that students can use to participate in this activity. No worries if students have trouble opening the link, I can also help them do a "virtual" spin. The wheel will reveal exciting dance activities that students will love.
-Then students will see 2 pictures and try to find 10 things that are different between the two.
-Students will be so excited to see another wheel game, but this one is "Wheel of Sentences." Students will spin the virtual wheel and create a sentence using one of the vocabulary words from the story.
-At the very end students can vote and chose to see me getting slimed as either the nice teacher or the naughty teacher. It's going to be so much fun and I can't wait to see them for Stories with Steph.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, I'm Stephanie and thank you for your interest. Being a teacher is the most fulfilling career I've ever had. Having previously worked as a creative services producer for a local television station, I've worn many hats and stand firm on the notion of teaching being the best job venture I've ever embarked on. I always describe teaching as an ice cream party: There's lots of fun, maybe some spills and different flavors of personalities. I also have an amazing 6 year old daughter who is the source of my inspiration when developing creative and engaging lessons. My family and I enjoy taking trips to the beach during the summer. We also enjoy watching Netflix and Disney+ and we're huge fans of Marvel movies (lol). I've also played the cello for about 30 years and I also enjoy playing with our pet hamster, Snuzzles. I'm so excited to meet your learners and I'm confident that they will have an amazing learning experience in my classroom. Thank you 😊
